A Quieter and More Gentle Life

With every passing day, I am convinced that my desire for a quieter and more gentle life is God's provision to survive these days that are upon us.

I don't recognize the land that I live in any longer.  The change was gradual at first.  I saw the signs but had hope that sensibilities would prevail.  And they did not.

I should not be surprised really.  It has all been foretold in God's Word.  It is only a matter of time before it gets way worse for those of us who are christian believers.  All that God's Word stands for is completely opposite of what is deemed "right" in this world today.  As the statues are torn down, as our liberties are chipped away until they no longer exist and our country's history is erased may we remember that this is but for a short time and that we truly are weary pilgrims in this land.

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches over me
Civilla D Martin, 1905

  3. It is so sad to see these things happen Gina... and we wonder how and why such things could be... but as you said, we are just pilgrims on this earth. Thankfully our hope is in Christ, and not just in this world... how wonderful that is! With much love to you dear friend!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one's deepest as well as one's most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Maria Craik, A Life for a Life, "Chapter XVI: Her Story," 1859
