In the Garden ~ Bunnies Bunnies All Around

Bunnies, bunnies, all around and not a carrot in sight!

My husband took these photographs of the baby bunnies in our zucchini patch with his GoPro camera.   We have counted four bunnies in and out of the nest.

Cottage Garden Variety

Green has never been a favorite color of mine until now. Everything is growing up green and I'm loving it!

May I Introduce You To... the Baby Bunnies!

Today is the first day that the baby bunnies are able to be seen in the nest.  Oh goodness, I wanted so badly to hold one and give it a kiss on the head.  I didn't though.  Aren't they adorable?!

The Rhythm of Days ~ Gardening

Early most mornings, you will find me in the garden.  I like to work before the summer heat sets in.

The vegetable plants are doing very well. I have been diligent about watering, pruning, and encouraging them.  Gardening brings me so much joy and satisfaction.

A Quieter and More Gentle Life

With every passing day, I am convinced that my desire for a quieter and more gentle life is God's provision to survive these days that are upon us.

I don't recognize the land that I live in any longer.  The change was gradual at first.  I saw the signs but had hope that sensibilities would prevail.  And they did not.

Little Nursery Update

The days seem to just fly by.  I thought it was high time for a bunny nursery update.  Last week, I posted that we discovered a mama bunny digging and filling a nest with grass and leaves in our zucchini patch.

As you can see in this photograph, the nest looks a little different than in the last photograph.  When a mama bunny gives birth to her babies in the nest, she then covers them up with more grass, leaves, and flowers and pats it all down on top of them.  My husband saw her doing this.  I wish I'd seen it!

Barefoot in Buttercream

There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again. ~Elizabeth Lawrence

I love this quote.  Though it is about a garden, I think it applies to finding beauty in the ordinary.

When winter has passed, you will find me more often than not barefoot.  I love the way the earth feels under my feet.

Prepping the Nursery

There is prepping the nursery and then there is prepping the NURSERY!  Our garden is growing by leaps and bounds ~ so much so that a mama bunny has decided to build her nursery in our raised bed of zucchini and squash.

Lilah Rose noticed mama bunny first.  Lilah likes to sit by the glass back door and watch "her stories" aka all the wildlife frolic in the yard and gardens.  Early one morning, mama bunny nibbled as much grass as she could stuff in her cheeks and then hopped into the planter.  A few moments later, she hopped out, grazed, and hopped back in again.  Wash Rinse Repeat

Still I Will Say More

In yesterday's post, I shared one of my many favorite praise songs.  This one has particularly been on my mind and in my heart.  Surely, the songwriter was thinking of this Bible verse in the book of Job.

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. ~Job 1:21b

In the first chapter of Job, we meet a blameless and upright man, Job.  Job lives a life of abundance and wealth until he loses everything including his children.  Through it all, he refuses to blame God but chooses to praise Him instead.

Still I Will Say

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Lilah Time - Blanket O'Clock

Ever have one of those weeks?  Lilah Rose has.  She's done!

It's blanket o'clock on Lilah Time.  She loves to lay on the sofa covered by a baby blanket or crib sheet. Her sweet little face is barely peeking out.  Sweet dreams!

Waiting in the Window

These little bears waited and waited.  They waited for 36 hours for the power to come back on.  And then it did!  Good things do come to those that wait.

My hopes to post daily were hijacked by the derecho storms that pummeled our area on Wednesday.

derecho: a widespread and severe windstorm that moves rapidly along a fairly straight path and is associated with bands of rapidly moving thunderstorms.

Where the Roses Never Fade

I am going to a city
Where the streets with gold are laid,
Where the tree of life is blooming
And the roses never fade.
Here they bloom but for a season,
Soon their beauty is decayed;
I am going to a city
Where the roses never fade.

James C. Miller

The roses in my garden are in full bloom.  Their delicate beauty may only be for a short time.  The petals will fade as the season passes.  I am content to enjoy them this day.

Quiet Beauty in Ordinary Days

Before I begin a new journey, I take note of where I was and where I am now and where I want to go from here.  Though sojourns and adventures are wonderful things, my most favorite part is returning home.

So cherished a home, a humble hermitage, a sanctuary from the troubles of the world. Is there a more precious place this side of heaven?  I dare say not.
